Steve and Christine took time out of their schedules to drive down (16+ hours) from Oregon to visit family and friends. It was great to see them in person and not just on the phone or Facetime. They were staying with the Elliott’s for a week and we got to see them several times including dinner at the Runge’s house in Dana Point. We had a great time visiting and watching the boys fall right into the routine, playing with each other and Noah following Evan and Jake around like a shadow.
Later that week we had a family gathering at Scot and Kelley’s house with Uncle Steve and Vicki. We played basketball and had a great time visiting when we weren’t running Noah down or pulling roly-polys from his mouth.
As always their time to return came all too quickly, but we were able to spend some more time with them at church and lunch as well as a short time at dinner when I brought them some stuff to take home with them. I already miss them… Check out the rest of the photos here.
I’ve been wanting to head out to the cabin for a while, at least to check on its security. Scott has been asking to go too since we didn’t have our annual trip during Thanksgiving. His wife is due May 3rd and time was running out to get a trip together before she gets too close to her date. Scot and Uncle Steve couldn’t make it, but I also asked by brother-in-law Michael to come out. We had to do some repairs after finding that someone had changed the locks on the screen door. Once that was finished though, we got down to relaxing which included horseshoes, dinner and campfire. The weekend was over all too quickly and I can’t wait to get out there as soon as I possibly can.

Here is one of the downhill sections (called ‘The Luge’) of one of our rides. The video doesn’t do the trail justice. The camera is level with the trail so it is very deceptive how steep it is. I’ll put it this way, I didn’t pedal from the time video started until almost the end and my brakes were squealing by the halfway point.
Watch closely at about :45sec. It goes by so fast I almost didn’t notice it until I watched the video.
We started the day at CLF with the annual costume procession. I took a bunch of photos but had plans to go to Betsy’s sister’s house for the rest of the day. Noah wasn’t too excited to have his bear costume on, especially the hood. As soon as we started walking door to door and people handed him candy, he was in! Photos Here.
I was sent to the Cold Water Classic in Santa Cruz for work and I had the pleasure again to meet the founder of my company, Jack O’Neill. He’s in his late 80′s now and has a coffee table book coming out this Spring called ‘Its Always Summer on the Inside’, a familiar motto here at O’Neill. He held a press event to tout the book and I got to go along and shoot press pics for the company. Here’s what I shot.
We had a very busy weekend but had a great time finished off with a trip to the pumpkin patch at Cal Poly Pomona with Noah and the Dahms’. Noah was entranced and had a great time digging in the dirt. Pictures here.
The main event for the weekend centered around our friends Shawn and Jade. Their long awaited and much anticipated wedding finally arrived and Betsy and I went down to La Jolla on Saturday. We stayed at the Estancia for Saturday night after the wedding and reception. We had an amazing time with all of our friends there and loved being able to share in such a special event.
The packing continues, but we got to sit down together and have some dinner.
